Did you know that three African kings attended Elm Grove School in 1895? Did you know they came to Brighton Pier?

We are working on a new educational project to develop online resources for Brighton & Hove primary and secondary schools.

The focus is the fascinating story of the Three Kings of Botswana and their visit to Brighton and Sussex in 1895.

We are looking for old photos and stories from local people and records from local schools.

General public: Do you have old photos in your cupboards from 1890s onwards from Brighton? Does your family remember the Three Kings coming to Brighton? Did your family belong to Union Church on Ship Street?

Schools: Do you have old records dating from 1890s onwards?

If you can help us with our search for more archival material to use on this project, please contact project manager Amy Zamarripa Solis on amy@thistooisreal.co.uk.

For more information about the project, see our project page for Three African Kings Visit Brighton in 1895.

We will be giving a talk about our project on Sunday 21 November at our annual Black History Family Day event at Brighton Dome from 2.45pm-3.30pm. Free entry, all welcome.
